Residential net metering through Con Edison. Every kilowatt-hour exported earns a full credit.
Flat Roof Specialty — NYC Outer Boroughs
Flat roofs are the dominant roof type across Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Most solar installers avoid them — the installation is more complex and the permitting through NYC DOB adds steps that suburban installers never encounter. EnergiSense uses the GAF Liberty membrane system for outer-borough flat roof projects. To qualify, a flat roof needs at least 10 years of remaining life. If yours is close, we assess it during the site visit and quote a re-roof as part of the project if needed — one contract, one timeline.

NYC Solar FAQ
New York City offers a property tax abatement path for qualifying solar projects. It is exclusive to NYC borough installs and does not apply on Long Island or Westchester. EnergiSense verifies the current city, state, and property-specific rules on your proposal.
Yes — flat-roof solar is a specialty at EnergiSense. Most solar installers skip flat roofs. For NYC outer-borough flat roof projects, we use the GAF Liberty membrane system. To qualify, a flat roof needs 10+ years of life remaining. We assess the roof as part of the site visit. If it needs work first, we quote a re-roof using GAF materials and bundle the labor.
Battery storage is not available on NYC borough installs at this time — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island are solar-only. If you are outside the five boroughs, battery pairing with a Powerwall 3 or Enphase IQ Battery 5P is available.
NYC solar installations require New York City Department of Buildings permits in addition to the standard utility interconnection filing with Con Edison. The NYC DOB process adds time compared to suburban installations — typical total timeline is 8 to 14 weeks from signed agreement to permission-to-operate. We manage the DOB filing and Con Edison interconnection application as part of the project.
NYC incentives depend on property type, install date, city rules, state eligibility, and Con Edison account details. We model every applicable incentive on your proposal before you sign.
Yes — EnergiSense serves all five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. Roof type, shading, and building ownership structure determine feasibility. Cooperative apartments (co-ops) require board approval for solar installations; condominiums vary by building rules. Drop your zip and we will confirm.
