GAF Master Elite is a certification fewer than 2% of roofing contractors in the country hold. It requires a documented installation history, ongoing training, and a clean reputation file with the BBB.

The credential matters because GAF only issues their full system warranty — the one that covers labor, not just materials — when a Master Elite installs the HDZ system end-to-end. That's the warranty homeowners actually want.

A non-Master-Elite roofer can install GAF shingles. They cannot deliver the GAF system warranty. If a quote you're comparing is silent on the installer's certification, that's the question to ask.
